Founded in 1994 Emergency Response Associates has grown into a regional installer of Fire Alarm, Access Control, and CCTV systems with over 7,500 customers in the Greater Philadelphia Area. History
Founded in 1994 by Jonathan Lipner and Andrew Lieberman, Emergency Response Associates (ERA) is still rooted as a family company focused on Fire Alarm Installation and Maintenance. Emergency Response Associates has grown into a multi-service company, supporting Access Control (Keyfobs), Video Surveillance (CCTV), and Intrusion (Burglar Alarms). Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Extinguishers and Emergency and Exit Standby Lighting services were added to create a one-stop shop for your life safety needs.
In 2009 and 2017, Scott Lipner, son of Jonathan, and Josh Nick, nephew of Andy joined the business and assumed leadership positions in both operations and service and joined Jonathan and Andy as the faces of Emergency Response Associates. With their vision and knowledge, Scott and Josh have helped ERA grow while maintaining the company culture and building on the relationships that were previously developed. Their desire to further educate themselves and eagerness to stay on top of industry trends and changes have helped ERA take on the opportunities that have been presented.
ERA moved from Philadelphia to Conshohocken, PA in 2020 where increased space and a more functional office setup has helped promote company growth. ERA has over 4,000 client partners who trust us to service over 7,500 individual locations. In 2022, ERA serviced, inspected, and certified over 2,500 fire alarm systems, performed over 1,000 installations, and inspected over 20,000 fire extinguishers.

Leadership
Scott Lipner
Scott was born and raised in Lafayette Hill, PA, graduated from Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School and attended college at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating with a degree in marketing, Scott worked in Real Estate Development and Management and also as a Commercial Service Contractor prior to joining Emergency Response Associates in 2009.
Scott currently holds a NICET III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems which allows ERA to service, install, and maintain systems throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Scott is licensed as a Fire Alarm Installer in New Jersey and holds a Philadelphia Fire Inspectors License. He is also NFPA 10 Certified in Fire Extinguishers, holding State licenses in Delaware and New Jersey. In addition to the work done in the fire industry, Scott also helped guide Emergency Response Associates to the latest generation of security offerings such as IP Cameras, Cloud-Based Access Control, and Burglar Alarm Advanced Online Access including Honeywell Total Connect and Alarm.com Integrations.

Josh Nick
Josh has roots in the Philadelphia area. He obtained a BBA in Marketing from Temple University Fox School of Business after graduating from Bensalem High School. Josh was involved in several local business ventures before being hired as Service Manager in 2017. He ensures that service requests are met with solutions, and works closely alongside the installation and inspection teams. He stresses the importance of maintaining an open line of communication with customers and providing internal support to coworkers/employees. Josh holds an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) which enables ERA to continue expanding the services they offer. If Josh doesn't know the answer, he'll find the person who does!

Andrew (Andy) Lieberman
Andrew was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Penn State Ogontz. After a few years, he realized that he was more interested in working with his hands. In the late 70's, Andy worked for an Electrical Contractor over 40 hours weekly while completing a 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship program at Eastern Montgomery Vocational Technical School. On his first attempts, Andy passed both tests and gained his Electrical License in Philadelphia and New Jersey, which was the catalyst that started Emergency Response Associates. Andy became NICET III Certified in Fire Alarm Systems and he later achieved his Delaware Fire Alarm Contractors License, which allowed ERA to perform work throughout the Delaware Valley. With the help of talented and special individuals, Andy guided Emergency Response Associates from their single, first client, to the company it has become today.

Jonathan Lipner
Jonathan was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Overbrook High School and received his BS in Accounting from Philadelphia Textile, which is now Jefferson University. Jonathan previously managed a portfolio of 18 apartment communities comprising over 1,200 units. In 1994, while working together with Andrew (Andy) Lieberman, the City of Philadelphia adjusted their codes in regards to Fire Alarm Systems in multi-family dwellings. Jonathan and Andy formed Emergency Response Associates (ERA) with the intention of upgrading the properties which they managed, and once they completed their own upgrades, they pursued an opportunity to seek additional business in the Greater Philadelphia region. Jonathan is responsible for the financial aspects associated with the operations of ERA as well as the cultivation and maintenance of client relationships.
